Katherine Black was born and raised in Texas, but has spent most of her life in England. Her background is in art history and she worked in the arts for many years.

After deciding to pursue her dream of writing, Katherine completed an MA in Crime Fiction at the University of East Anglia. Her first novel, No Fouler Fiend, placed third in the Yeovil Literary Prize and was a finalist for a Pageturner Award.

Her second book, Lufkin, Texas, was longlisted for the Crime Writers Association's Debut Dagger and was also a finalist for a Pageturner Award.

No Fouler Fiend, re-titled as A Most Unusual Demise, was published by Bloodhound Books in March 2023 and is the first in the Most Unusual Mysteries series.
